The valve is actuated directly electrically. With 4/2 directional control valves, double-acting actuators can be operated or pilot signals can be manipulated. 4/2: In the unactuated position, the actuator is activated in one direction. In the actuated position, the actuator is operated in the other direction. 4/3: In the unactuated position, the actuator is generally not activated. In the two actuated positions, the actuator is operated in one direction or the other.
