Compared to simple 2/2-way screw-in cartridges, active cartridges include an additional control surface, which allows the valve to be switched faster. Due to the additional control surface, the active cartridge offers direct control of the poppet independent of the inlet pressure. Installation is in the same bore as the standard cartridge. Only the associated cover needs to be made slightly larger. 2/2-way active cartridge valves consist of a sleeve with the valve seat, the associated poppet, and a spring that keeps the valve closed when unloaded. The mounting bore is closed with a cover that firmly positions the cartridge and connects it to the control circuit via the pilot port X. This allows the pilot valve to directly control the function of the cartridge valve, either between two end positions or in any possible intermediate position. Due to active control, the opening function and speed are independent of the pressure at the working ports A and B and depend exclusively on the pressure in the control lines X and D.
